Project proposal and realisation in art & design
Inspiration
My main source of inspiration is Blizzard Entertainment. Everything that they produce, for me, it’s just jaw dropping, from games to cinematics. I still remember the first time I’ve played one of their games, Diablo 2, a Hack and Slash top down rpg. It was the game which introduced me to their company and since then, I’ve been following them closely, playing each of their games. They do not focus on producing X number of games disregarding quality, but instead they focus on the quality and create only a hand-few, games which broke records around the world and are still the one of the best in doing so.
As mentioned above, they only have a hand-few of games and these are: Diablo, World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Heroes of the Storm and in current development Overwatch. What I think Blizzard exceeds at are cinematics. In my opinion no other company on the market achieves their level of detail, realism, storytelling abilities and talent to create what they are doing.

Their cinematics always succeed making me live them, see their world trough the characters eyes. I’ve watched some of their behind the scenes clips, and I’ve seen how much work they put into each and every cinematic, and the fact that they listen to all of the suggestion coming from inside the company, even if you’re not working in the domain. They start from a basic storyboard, to concept art, color pallets, lightning and mood, then after having a decided all these they divide the work in teams and slowly and carefully work together to achieve a perfect result.
The animation of the characters and environment is as fluid as it can get, making it look extremely realistic, combined with the perfect lightning which create the mood, give even more realism to the scene and also the models being extremely well done, being done carefully to the smallest detail, while textures add even more detail to the already perfect meshes. Another thing that they use to make them even better are the particle effects, which they use almost everywhere starting from characters to different assets and environment.
Another thing that I like about them is how well thought and well designed their games are, all of them having a high level of replayability and hours of fun things to do, all of these while having the chance to observe the amazing worlds they created.
Their work was and still is an inspiration for me, being the ones that launched be and made me interested in the 3D industry, being one of the biggest name in the games industry and keeping up to their reputation. They aren’t just my main source of inspiration, but also the company I’m aiming to work for, wanting to be a part of the company which provided me with days of entertainment and inspiration throughout the past 10 years, and doing so for others in return.
